I was born and raised in Eagle Pass located along the Texas-Mexico border. Despite the obstacles of living in colónia neighborhood, I excelled in my studies and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and obtained my CPA license. During my college years, I often returned home during the summer months to help register voters in South Texas. I effectively utilized my fluency in Spanish to reach out to Hispanic voters in the same type of impoverished communities I was raised in. Voter participation among colónia residents is traditionally low because they often feel ignored by politicians. After my voter registration efforts in the colónias, I came away feeling positive that my efforts would motivate these voters to be more politically active and supportive of our Democratic Party.
As precinct chair, I implemented a voter registration plan to target new residents to my precinct especially residents to the many new apartment complexes being built. In the 2022 election cycle, I assisted my hometown Democratic Congressional candidate counter messaging efforts against the Republican opponent. The Republican candidate had a habit of taking credit for legislation he voted against and so the effort was to expose his lies across his social media platforms and tradition media as well.
If elected as your 2024 Biden national delegate, I pledge to:
1) Attend workshops and caucus meetings on how to mobilize voters efficiently and effectively
2) Strategize how to effectively re-energize Democratic voters
3) Participate in outreach programs to recruit potential voters
It is no hyperbole to say this is the most consequential election in our lifetime and that democracy is on the ballot!
